Packing a moving truck for a long-distance move can be an intimidating task Here are some tips to help you make sure everything gets to your new home in one piece: Read On

All homes and thus all moves are slightly different.  Your box and packing material needs can vary greatly depending on how far you are moving, your method of transportation, and of course, how much of a “pack rat” you are!  However, here are some general guidelines to use as a starting point.

1-2 Rooms:

• 7-10 Small Boxes
• 3-5 Medium Boxes
• 3-5 Large Boxes
• 2 Dish Pack Boxes
• 1-2 Wardrobe Boxes
• 1 File Box per small file cabinet drawer

3-4 Rooms:

• 15 Small
• 8-10 Medium
• 6-8 Large Boxes
• 2-4 Dish Packs
• 1-2 Wardrobe Boxes
• 1 File Box per small file cabinet drawer

5-6 Rooms:

• 20-25 Small
• 12-15 Medium
• 8-10 Large
• 3-5 Dish Packs
• 3-4 Wardrobe Boxes
• 1 File Box per small file cabinet drawer

7-8 Rooms:

• 30-40 Small
• 20-25 Medium
• 12-15 Large
• 4-5 Dish Packs

A great way to save money during your move is to purchase used or over-run boxes.  JDM sells both in addition to new standard moving boxes.  Used boxes are standard moving boxes that have been used but are still in great condition. You can even sell them back to us again after your move!  Over-run boxes are factory surplus boxes, often with other brand names printed on them.  They are new, very close in size to standard moving boxes sizes and offer a great savings!
